Your Auto Service Shop in Austin Offers Tips for Hosting a Tailgate Party

As college and pro football rivals go head to head this fall, make the most out of each game by throwing epic tailgate parties. The job of hosting a tailgate party isn't as easy as you might think; there is a whole lot more to it than just throwing some burgers on the grill and tossing everyone a cold beer.
Now, you don’t have to be a chef or certified party planner to throw a wildly successful tailgate party, you just need to follow a few tips.
Make Sure You Get There on Time
If your truck is not in good working order, it could break down and your party will be canceled. Save yourself from this embarrassment, and a waste of a lot of good food, by having the guys at Groovy Automotive, your Austin auto service, give your truck the once over to ensure everything is in good working order.
Rep Your Team
To throw a proper tailgate party, you need to bleed your team colors. Whether you are rooting for the Cowboys or Longhorns, make sure you are doing more to represent than just wearing a jersey. You need to have a tablecloth with team colors, flags flying all over the place and even have a makeup artist on hand to do some face-painting.
Safety First
A tailgate party is all fun and games until someone gets trigger-happy with the charcoal fluid. In addition to being responsible for your actions, you need to have a fire extinguisher handy as well as a first-aid kit. Anything can happen, so you will want to be well-prepared.
Have the Grooviest Cooler
A cooler is a necessity when throwing a tailgate party, you don’t want to be serving warm beverages. If you can’t afford or just plain refuse to overpay for a Yeti cooler, you can dress up your plastic Walmart special cooler by mounting LED lights and a Bluetooth speaker on it.
Plan the Food
It’s not good enough to just swing by the grocery store on your way to the stadium and pick up burgers, dogs and buns, you need to plan your menu weeks in advance.
If the party guests are just some of your buddies from high school, a menu of hot dogs, chicken, mac and cheese and beer is probably fine. But if you are bringing the wife and some of her friends, that menu needs to be expanded to include some vegetarian items, fruits, vegetables and wine.
You could go all out and serve fine cuisine like smoked salmon, cauliflower chowder and miso veal chop, but it is expensive and hit and miss as far as whether party-goers will like any of it.
Also, while wine and beer are a tailgate party staple, make sure you have some non-alcoholic beverages available as well.
We also recommend that you prep what you can ahead of time. This way, it frees up some of your time so you can indulge in a game of cornhole or two before kickoff.
Get There Early
We highly recommend you set your alarm and get to the parking lot as early as you can. Those who arrive late have less parking choices or maybe even no parking choices as the lot may be full.
Follow the Rules
Make sure you are aware of the rules for tailgating at the stadium where you will be. For example, some stadiums don’t allow glass containers or kegs. Rules vary depending on the venue.
Bring All of the Necessities
Don’t be that guy who brought bottled beer only to fail to bring a bottle opener. Take the time to sit down and make a list of everything you could possibly need at a tailgate party. Don’t forget to bring things like bottle openers, napkins, garbage bags and condiments.
Invite People
Nothing is a bigger bummer than throwing a tailgate party only to have nobody show up. People can't read your mind so you need to get word out that you are throwing an epic tailgate party.
This is quite an easy task in this age of technology. Use your smartphone to text your friends, use your tablet to post to Facebook about your upcoming party or use your laptop and send an email blast with the date, time a location of your tailgate party.
If you don’t get any response, offer to buy tickets to the game.
